Directions, Getting There |

Kuala Selangor can be reached by car, bus and taxi. Buses are available from Puduraya Bus Terminal in Kuala Lumpur, near Chinatown but their schedules can be a little haphazard. On paper, it takes about two hours to reach Bukit Melawati terminal with hourly depatures from 6.30am to 7.30pm, but traffic jams can affect timing. The ticket fare is MYR7.30. Buses also run from Klang to Kuala Selangor. At Kuala Selangor, visitors can ride on taxis to explore surrounding attractions, but do note that they do not follow the meter, so haggle and set the rates beforehand. If you rent your own car, it is quite easy to get around with a simple map.

The most established way for visitors from Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya to reach Kuala Selangor is by travelling through Sungai Buloh using the old trunk road; follow the directions towards Petaling Jaya, then Bandar Utama via the LDP Highway. Follow the highway towards Kepong and there take a left turn-off towards Sungai Buloh. From here, it is an hour plus journey past oil palm plantations, small towns and traditional villages. The total distance is about 70 km, but traffic jams, red lights and heavy vehicles can pile up the journey time substantially. For those directly in Kuala Lumpur, the new Latar Highway connects Templer's Park in Gombak to Ijok, which lies about 20 minutes away by road from Kuala Selangor. This effectively cuts the duration in half with this new highway.
Finally, the last option is to access the Guthrie Highway from the North-South Expressway, which is convenient for visitors coming from Singapore by highway; follow the signboards towards Shah Alam, which will eventually fork out to the Kuala Selangor trunk road. Eventually, you'll arrive in Kuala Selangor as you follow the signboards; proceed past the main town area over the bridge across the Selangor River to visit Pasir Penambang. From Pasir Penambang, a small road leads to the firefly watching areas of Kampung Belimbing and Kampung Kuantan. If you wish to bypass Kuala Selangor to reach Kampung Kuantan, then a turn-off from the trunk road lies about 10 km before town.

Klang lies in the south of Kuala Selangor about 50 km away by coastal road. Those coming from KLIA Airport in Sepang, Port Dickson or even Malacca can travel along the coastal road which will go all the way up to Klang. You'll pass by Morib and Banting along the way from these destinations. Once in Klang, follow the directions to Kapar. Once you reach Kapar Town, it is another 5 km before you reach Kuala Selangor. The traffic along this road is mostly free flowing, but getting out of Klang can be a nightmare as it is plagued by traffic jams. While the trunk road is tol-free, a breezier journey would be by using the North-South Highway and taking the Guthrie exit to Shah Alam. |
