Bukit Melawati

Silver Leaf Langurs
The silver leaf monkeys are Bukit Melawati's most popular attraction; originating from the surrounding mangrove forests below, the monkeys have become accustomed with constant handouts and feedings from tourists. With silvery grey complexion and cranial fur forming a Mohican-like crest, the silver leaf monkeys (also called langurs') are a gentle but shy primate by nature. Yet, the exposure to people have made the monkeys tame and unafraid of hopping on the shoulders of unsuspecting visitors to perch there nonchalantly. When not being fed, the monkeys are content sitting quietly among the trees, along railings and around park benches, staring listless into space.
