Swallow City

Yu He Swallow City is a bird nest production facility and showroom in Batang Berjuntai, about 17km away from Kuala Selangor town. Visitors pay MYR7 each for a ticket (MYR3 for children) that entitles them to a guided tour of Swallow City, mainly the large factory building where the nests of wild swiflets are harvested. At the back lies another large building with a Chinese seafood restaurant and processing center inside. Swallow City is mostly visited by Chinese tourists, as the strange practice of eating processed bird saliva appeals to their cultural senses, for a variety of purported health benefits. Visitors mildy curious can purchase some from their storeroom.
